So before you learn all about us as people – who we are, where we live, what our personal fears are, where we hide the spare key, (under the mat, yeah it’s the rock just off to the right, it as a false bottom) let’s explain the name.

Often we get asked “why the name?” well, the simplest way to explain it is as follows: take one part gay friend, one part straight friend, and name the website after them in some fashion.

There you go.

THE MO

After my magical parents were killed by an evil dark wizard, I was sent to live under my Aunt and Uncle’s staircase…………..oh wait………..that’s that other gay boy’s bio……………..mine starts this way………….

I always said that if my parents wanted someone to blame for me being gay that they should have firmly planted their disapproving gazes in the direction of Elisabeth Sladen and Jacqueline Pearce.

For those in the know I am sure you are quietly chuckling to yourselves as you realize the huge impact these two television actresses had on young gay men of my generation. For those of you who do not know who these wonderful ladies are, let me enlighten you.

Elisabeth Sladen played one of The Doctor’s time traveling assistants in the long running TV show Dr. Who. The character of Sarah Jane Smith was undoubtedly the most popular of all the assistants the aforementioned Doctor had. She was a ballsy broad who was at the forefront of women’s libbers and wasn’t going to be pushed around by any man, lest they feel her fury! At the same time she had a huge pair of lungs and could belt out an eardrum shattering scream with the best of them when one of the many ‘bubble-wrapped, green wool for hair’ monsters came along and gave her a fright. She was the quintessential mix of a strong woman meets screaming ‘50’s noir maiden.

Jacqueline Pearce on the other hand was a completely different kettle of fish. Ms. Pearce played the character of Supreme Commander turned President turned Commissioner of the evil and tyrannical Galactic Federation in the much loved but short running sci-fi show Blake’s 7. Her characters name was Servalan and she was, plainly and simply put, a complete and utter bitch. Servalan had absolutely no problems killing anyone who got in the way of her quest for power, and always did so in style.

Imagine, if you will, a stunning woman with short cropped black hair, wearing a full length gorgeous evening gown and matching hat (both with plenty of ostrich feathers sewn on for good measure), storming through a swamp in 6”stiletto heels with the hem of her frock in one hand and a plasma rifle in the other, blasting everything in sight! Simply fabulous.

My passion for all things movies, music etc etc is endless and this website’s opening is a long held dream come true!

I’ll end it by saying that I am a happily married Australian living in Canada!

THE RO

I would have to say, to know me is to be somewhat confused. I am at once shy but extremely self-confident; driven to succeed but quite lazy; and loves crowds and being the centre of attention, but hates people.

So yes, to answer all questions, I’m some variety of narcissistic anti-social – but I will get along fabulously with you and your mom will no doubt adore me.

Influenced by all manner of science, technology, art, and social theory, I have developed my annoying ability to become immersed in a subject or activity only to abandon it after a time (ask my mom about the basketball net I made her buy once). Additionally, my love of all things sarcastic and biting has allowed me to become quite skilled in critique (yo’ mama). Together, I now possess the keen ability to entertain and potentially annoy friends and acquaintances by pointing out and subjecting to my ridicule: advertisements, TV plots, clothing, music, human behavior, and yo’ mama.

I like to think this makes me ideally suited to review media, or at the very least spark some emails calling me stupid, hence why I jumped at the chance to share my insights with you good people in this forum.

As well I’ll end by saying I am a sometimes happily unmarried bachelor, who is currently outnumbered by his cat roommates, and some assorted houseplants.
